STELLER'S SEA EAGLE WITH SALMON AT THE NEST

Time of creation: 2014-2015.

Size: length -100 cm, width-90 cm, height -120 cm.

Material: alder, basswood, acrylic, oil varnish.

Technique: carving, fitting, painting.

One of the largest birds on the planet, endangered species, Steller's sea eagle surprisingly combines power and tenderness. Power in the struggle for survival in the northern latitudes of the Russian Far East and tenderness to the fate of their offspring.

The skilled fish hunter is holding a caught salmon in its huge claws – the salmon, which is just about to come in handy for eaglets hatching in the nest.

Ferocious glare of the eagle leaves no doubt that its rivals will not get the prey. The ruffled neck and half-open wings show readiness to fight for the offspring and its well-being.

Finest elaboration of each of the nearly two thousand feathers of the sea eagle adds realism to the sculptural composition and is full of sincere respect for this beautiful and amazing bird.
